An Application is a Communication Tool
Telligent Community has 6 apps. These apps communicate, record, and store information.
An Application is Generated, or Can Be Made On The Fly
An application is a piece of software that members use to originate content or modify it in the context of a group. Note that:
- When you create a group, Telligent Community creates one of each application type automatically. You can then can remove any of these applications or add additional applications as necessary through Manage Group.
- A group directly owns the content it creates. For example, a group's blog application owns its blog posts.
- An application can be moved to another group.
Members or Non-Members Can Access Application Content
Members of a group can read content generated by the group. With one exception, non-members can read content if they have the Read Application permission in the application and the Read Group permission in the group. The exception is joinless group. Since there are no group permissions in a joinless group, outsiders cannot read content.
Application Types

Application Creation and Management
Application creation is contextual - meaning that you use the pencil tool to begin creating an application where it will reside. For example, if you want to create an application, you click the pencil tool and access the Manage contextual panel. Then click the Manage Group contextual panel, and finally, Applications. The following screen capture shows the contextual panel that appears after clicking Applications.
