The email digest is a periodic email that includes an aggregate view of changes that have been made since the last digest was sent. As an administrator, the digest email can be customized to meet the needs of the community.
Enable/disable email digest
To enable or disable digest emails for the entire community, go to Administration > Site > Email Options and set the value of Enable Email Digest as desired. When disabled, email digest subscription is not available and the email digest tab on user settings is hidden.
Subscription initialization will occur in the group itself via the Group Links widget's enablement of email digest. Here a user can select daily/weekly options. Once subscribed, the digest subscription will also show in the Settings > Subscriptions tab under Other Group Subscriptions.
Adjust when digest emails are sent
Email digest emails are sent view two background jobs, Email Digest Daily and Email Digest Weekly. The time at which each job processes digests can be adjusted by editing the job schedule.
To edit a job schedule, go to Administration > Jobs, search for the job to adjust and select it. On the schedule tab, choose the appropriate schedule for the job.
For example, if you wanted daily digests to be sent out at 2am each morning, the schedule could be configured to execute at 2am each day.
Adjust the template used for digest email
The content of the email digest is controlled by the Email Digest email. It can be customized by navigating to Administration > Notifications > Email > Email Digest and adjusting the configuration options and templates of the feature.
