Media Gallery Error - Your Browser is Not Supported

What version of Community and what browser+version are you using?

11.x and I get the error in Chrome (Version 75.0.3770.100) and IE (Version 11.1550.17134.0. 

Does the preview feature work for open/public urls that don't require logins? Wondering if the message is a quirk of the system's inability to pull a preview.

It is funny you brought that up.  It is not available for open/public URLs.  I'm in the process of submitting that as an idea.

In an ideal world, I would like a preview of any URL (private or public) added to the Media Gallery. It is not intuitive for users to click on the URL name to see the web content (plus, it is just way too many clicks).  A preview would prevent them from thinking it is a broken link. 

In my example, the credentials are the same for users trying to access my community and the secure site so the content should display in both places (with a preview) without another log in. 

What do you mean it's not available? I'm able to add urls for public sites to media galleries. Can you share the steps you are taking and the result you are seeing?

The url feature in media galleries is primarily designed to include media from other places on the web (for instance, youtube videos, documents hosted elsewhere, or images from image hosting sites. I'm not sure what url you were trying originally, but giving it a url for an html page instead of a specific file resource may cause unexpected results for the preview.

Here is my current experience with another URL that isn't displaying the error message.

I have the preview in the thumbnail, but in order to get a true preview where I could view this static newsletter webpage I have to click the URL name so that the page opens in a separate window. 

It would be much better if the webpage preview displayed like PDF (and other files) do.  That way users know that there is content there for them to view, and it isn't just a broken link. 

That is different from the original issue though, about the "browser not supported" message. Is there a way you can provide me with the url you were using there so I can test locally?

Ok, I'm seeing the same result in a test instance. My guess is that it's something about the way the preview feature is attempting to crawl the target page that the target page is rejecting. Even copying the resulting url from the automatic redirect of the first url shows the same "not supported" message.

Yep, the issue here is that the preview of target site's URL is generated by the site crawling the target site. And the target site is detecting the type of "browser" it thinks is accessing it, which in this case, isn't even a browser. The target site is trying to be helpful with a message about what browsers it thinks will work best, but it just ends up confusing the crawler, unfortunately.

I'm logging updating the crawler to identify itself as a more current browser, and potentially even as the same browser as the viewing user, but this could definitely come up again and is somewhat out of the control of the platform.

A workaround would be to make a small adjustment to the widget which renders the media gallery item to not include a preview.

WillMcKnight - Looping you into the conversation about the widget adjustment. It appears that this error will happen with any Support Center urls that are added to the Media Gallery.
