In Telligent Community Server, abuse and moderation thresholds are configurable. Min represents the minimum number of abuse reports before an item can be considered abusive. That is, once the system receives #min reports, the scoring service takes over and determines whether an item is abusive and should be hidden. The min# is not a guarantee, but a minimum "barrier to entry"into the abuse management process. Note that you can View moderated and abusive content in abuse management that has any abuse reports before it hits the appeal queue.
If an item has less than the #min reports, it will never be considered abusive. The #max is a guarantee that once you have that many reports against an item, it will be considered abusive and will be hidden, regardless of scoring. So in summary, below #min = never abusive, between #min and #max = scoring decides, above #max = always abusive.
Configure min and max values for abuse
To configure the min and max values:
- Navigate to the site home page (or profile page).
- Mouse over Management.
- Click Administration. The Administration options appear.
- Click Moderation.
- Click Moderation options. The Moderation options panel appears.
- Enter the following values:
- Possibly abusive threshold - Enter the minimum report value for entering the abuse workflow. Default is 2.
- Definitely abusive threshold - Enter the desired maximum report value, but this is essentially only if you want an upper limit. For all practical purposes, the platform isn't otherwise concerned with this value. Default is 100.
- Appeal time window - How many days before the appeal period expires. Default is 5 days.
- Moderate time window - How long before content is flagged to be removed. Default is 60 days.
- Expunge time window - How many days after appeal expiration that the content is deleted from the site. Default is 2 days.
- Click Save.
