Quick Post

[toc]

Quick Post is a powerful and useful widget - providing great flexibility in its posting capabilities (status messages; blogs; forums; media galleries; wikis; uploaded images or video; URLs; text files). The widget is used on the site home page, group home page, or on a user's dashboard.

Display of Quick Post status messages and activity stories (such as a notice when someone creates a blog post) is determined by group configuration conditions and the kinds of activity stories allowed in a group or on a site.

If Quick Post's configuration "Enable group selection" check box is checked, you will be able to select a group or subgroup you have access to from the widget's "Share with" drop-down list. You will also be able to post directly to the applications that group has. The alternative configuration option is "Current," which will only allow you to post to the current group and its applications.

A status message and its comments can be promoted to a forum thread by an admin, and likewise a file attachment can be promote to a media gallery post.

Notes

  • Any Quick Post status message is limited to 512 characters. Quick Post text postings have no character limit.
  • Quick Post requires search in order to automatically populate the "Share with" drop-down list.
