Is there a file size limit for uploading to community forums?

Is there a recommendation on the max allowed file size? One of our community members would like to post files larger than 10 megabytes which is large. 

The answer depends greatly on the purpose of the community, the available space in your file storage, and the performance of your server. In general a 10MB file is not overly large - consider that most phone cameras can take photos in the 3-9 MB range. But again - this depends greatly on the community. There's no hard point at which Community itself cannot handle the file - it's much more dependent on the underlying hardware availability/capability.

Hi Steven Heffner - sorry I wasn't clear in my reply above. Our max file size is currently 10 MB... we have a user that would like to post videos that are a few hundred megabytes. Could that cause a problem? I realize that it is dependent on the underlying hardware availability/capability so I am wondering if there is a recommendation so I can help prevent an issue. :)

Elizabeth Massa  We have a decently sized video library in our community. Some are uploaded directly to the site either through Media Gallery or the "Insert > Image/Video/File" tool in the WYSIWYG editor and have not run into space limitations. However, for a lot of the videos produced by our company (training videos, etc), we usually upload them to YouTube and embed them into posts (you can see one of these libraries here: https://sugarclub.sugarcrm.com/learn/w/quick-video-tutorials/418/quick-videos). That way, we don't worry about the size limitations on the community filesystem, easy to share the links, track stats, etc. Hope that helps!

Agree with Alex here on his points. Can certainly use the community for this and be ok. There are contractual limitations on how much you can store, but usually takes a bit to get there. Youtube, Vimeo, Vidyard, etc are also good options and those dedicated tools bring different insights to your videos.
