Idea Status Notifications/Emails only going to author

Can you verify they are actually subscribed to the idea?  On the idea under more, it should say to turn notifications off if they are on

Luckily, my account is in the affected group so I can easily check this... Subscriptions to the ideation are on, but subscriptions to each individual idea that was created after the subscription to the ideation is off.

Shouldn't the subscription to the ideation act the same as a subscription to a forum where the thread/replies are automatically subscribed (removing the need to manually subscribe to each idea)?

Currently it does not work that way but its something we can review internally 

So comments is correct, to get those you have to subscribe to the individual idea, this is consistent with comments on other applications, status changes though I could see and will file

Is there an automation way to subscribe to the idea's comments automagically when subscribed to the ideation or is that just going to need a core platform change to achieve?

Potentially, you would handle the same comment create event and get the subscribers but you risk doubling the notification unless you turn off the current one.  You could also write a replacement notification type plugin that does this.

Can you point to an API documentation reference for getting/setting the subscribers as my search/scroll foo doesn't seem to be on my side...

I'm thinking the logic for the automation would be something like:

AfterIdeaCreate
 - Get Current Idea Subscribers
 - Get Ideation Subscribers
 - For each Ideation Subscriber not in Current Idea Subscriber, subscribe them

It wouldn't be perfect as there would be no way to undo it if you only subscribed via ideation vs intentionally subscribing to each idea, but it would get more notifications going to those who'd have missed them.
