Custom profile field types

Custom profile field types was never an extensibility point, it continues to be that way in 14.

Please can be added in so customers that have custom fields can continue to have custom fields?

This would be a feature request for future versions, these values are seeded and very specific and not designed to be extended.

They were a long time ago, probably before you joined. 

I have been here since 2008 and In-Process APIs and extensibility were introduced in Telligent Community 6.  Anything prior to that was not considered APIs or extensible.  I do not see any insert of new profile field type APIs, which would be consistent with having to do it in the database which has not been supported since extensibility was added.

That's fine, just be aware some sites predate 2008, these fields continued to work up to version 13 and some customers may have custom fields that they expect to continue to work.

I have filed TE-19697 as a feature request, but this would not be a 14.0 item and would be potentially prioritized for a future release.  It would also be helpful to understand why this is needed along with a detailed example that can be added to that story.

So the ones we have created and used in the past were for better rendering and editing experience for things like social media profiles, i.e. displays an icon next to it, if you put in your url in or just your id it formats it nicely etc.
