Article What is the Web container image?

The web image serves the Community web application. For standard local use, prefer Compose.

Prerequisites

Purpose

Use the web container to:

  • load Community UI and API endpoints
  • serve end-user traffic

Dependencies

The web image typically depends on:

  • SQL Server
  • CFS mounted at /app/cfs
  • Community's Solr-based search  service
  •  Infra , or a custom message bus and distributed cache service.
  • any enabled support services referenced by plugin configuration.

Configuration

Configuration is flexible, and supports configuration via JSON, environmental overrides, and more. Review the sample Compose stack, which supplies configuration through a mounted JSON file plus environment-based configuration sources.

Volumes and Ports

  • Port 8080 in the container serves Community HTTP traffic.
  • Mount the shared CFS path at /app/cfs.
  • Mount your stack-specific settings file read-only.

Startup Expectations

  • Do not treat web as ready until the installer container has completed and exited successfully.
  • For local development and testing, the sample stack exposes web directly on LOCAL:8080.
  • In the sample stack, web runs with RunJobsInternally=false; background work belongs to the job image.
