Blog - Post List : Configuration

Description

Purpose

Displays a list of blog posts.

Where it works

This widget works on the site home page (where it shows posts from all blogs on the site); group home page (where it shows posts from all blogs in the group), and the blog home page (where it shows posts from the blog).

Configuration

Place and configure the widget

1. Click Pencil Icon >  Manage [Site/Group/Blog] Theme > Edit this Page
2. Select and place the Blog - Post List widget on the page
3. Click on  in the widget menu bar. The configuration dialog appears.
4. You can change the title of this widget by replacing the text in the Widget Title box.
   • View Detail :  Do you want post details displayed
     • List View : No details
     • Detail View : Include details
   • Layout : How results will be displayed
     • List
     • Grid
   • Filter Posts - Which posts should be displayed
     • All Posts
     • Featured Posts
   • Select group/blog to pull content from - Allows you to select a group or blog from which to pull the posts to display. You can add multiple sources to this field to create a mashup.
     • Select blogs
     • Select groups
     • Enter appropriate name/s
   • Sort Posts By - Specifies how you want the post sorted.
     • Most Recent - Displays in descending order from the most recent post to the oldest.
     • Most Viewed - Displays in descending order the posts that have been most often viewed to the least viewed.
     • Most Comments - Displays in descending order the posts with the most comments to the least comments.
   • Tag to filter posts by - Allows you to filter posts by their tags.
   • User Query Type - Specifies which posts you want to display in the list.
     • All - Displays all the posts in the list, regardless of author.
     • The logged in user - Shows the posts authored by the logged-in user.
     • The current user - Displays only the posts authored by users other than the logged-in user.
   • Excerpt Size - Specifies the maximum number of characters to display in the post excerpt. If you enter 0, the widget will use the default value of 420 characters.
   • Number of posts to display - Specifies the number of posts to display on the page.
   • Show Post Thumbnail - Displays the thumbnail image assigned to the post. 
   • Enable Paging - Checkbox if you want more results to be presented on additional pages.
   • Enable Filtering - Provides option allowing members to filter presented results.
5. Click Save in the configuration dialog.
6. Click Publish when complete.
