Description
Purpose
Displays a static advertisement message on the site. The "Regional" part of the widget name is a convenience label that the advertisement is saved under so that you can access it from multiple pages. For example, if the widget is saved as region "Top (Sidebar)" on one page, you can drop the regional advertisement widget with the region "Top (Sidebar)" on a different page and have this same advertisement appear.
Limitations
The Enable Ads property must be enabled for this widget to take effect.
Any user you wish to view the widget must have the Hide Ads permission disabled in a user role. Note that you can't disable the Hide Ads permission for the admin user.
Where it works
This widget works on site pages and nearly any page in the site.
Configuration
Enable the Enable Ads check box
- Click Pencil Icon > Administration > Site
- Select Ads
- Click the checkbox for Enable Ads
Disable the Site - Hide Ads permission
- Click Pencil Icon > Administration > Membership > Roles
- Select the Role you wish to see ads and click Edit
- Click Permissions
- Ensure the Hide Ads Permission is unchecked
- Click Save
Place and configure the widget in Edit page mode
- Click Pencil Icon > Manage [Site/Group] Theme > Edit this Page
- Select and place the Advertisement (Regional) widget on the page
- Click on
in the widget menu bar. The configuration dialog appears. - On the Options tab you can change the title of this widget by replacing the text in the Widget Title box.
- Select the area of the page where you want the widget to appear in the Advertisement Region/Code drop-down:
- Top (Content)
- Middle (Content)
- Bottom (Content)
- Top (Sidebar)
- Middle (Sidebar)
- Bottom (Sidebar)
- Click the Ad Region Content tab
- Advertisement HTML Code - Enter the appropriate HTML for the ad.
- Click Save in the configuration dialog.
- The advertisement appears in Edit Page mode.
- Click Publish when complete.
