question about permissions

I want to look at the possibility of only allowing specific role profiles to insert hyperlinks into posts and messages. Is this possible? I looked at permissions and tried disabling the option to embed URLs but that didn't stop me being able to click on insert link in the editor when creating a post. Is it possible to disallow the posting of links but leave that option enabled for specific roles?

  • You could try Applications > Forum Threads > Filtering > Links, but that doesn't give a role-based option:

There's also Moderation > Filtering, but that doesn't give a role-based option either:

I couldn't find much documentation about the "Attach URLs" permission at the group & application level, which I believe is the one you tried, which says:

    Attach URLs
Enables users to attach URLs to posts. This permission applies to URLs embedded for viewing in posts as well as attachments to posts.

I would think that would apply to what you're referencing, but it doesn't sound like it's working. I just tested removing that permission for a test group and my test user was also able to post a link like normal. Maybe it's a bug?

  • Yes those are all the things i tried so maybe it is a bug. I'll investigate further thanks so much
