Do I need to uninstall community license before upgrading it to next version?

Hello Members,

We are in the process of upgrading our existing non-prod environment from 11.1 to 12.1. Do i need to uninstall my existing community license before the upgrade processes starts?

Or does it not matter at all? The reason I am asking is that I am running into lots of issues and I am wondering if that has anything to do with it.
