Feedback on Members ability to edit forum posts

In our Community, members had the ability to edit their forum posts with no time limit.

Unfortunately, we have had increased activity of members removing content, which is impacting the information in the entire post.

What do others have in place for Post editing? Is it locked down after a certain amount of time or not?

Is it worth pursuing an enhancement from Verint, to have Post Editing optionable as a 'perk' of being an expert member or elevated member who is trusted not to edit posts to the detriment of the post.

Love to hear your input.

  • As a user having 10 to 15 minutes to edit a post after publishing is something we see very often, to make sure users don't edit important information or even delete their posts.
So setting the value to 10-15 for  'Edit Post Age Limit' to give users 1 to 15 minutes to edit their own posts.
You can also try enabling "require edit notes" and "display edit notes". Every time a user edits a post, the edited text will be shown to community members. (and a reason if you want to know as a community manager)
And for 'Delete Post Age Limit' set the value to 0 to restrict deleting and between 1-15 for to give users 1 to 15 minutes to delete their own posts.

Is it worth pursuing an enhancement from Verint, to have Post Editing optionable as a 'perk' of being an expert member or elevated member who is trusted not to edit posts to the detriment of the post.

That's always an idea, I think more Verint Community users would benefit from that, based on a certain role, achievement, number of points and or reputation for example.
