One of our users recently received the notification in the image below after they'd mistakenly sent 3 identical DM's to one of our other community members.
Where do I find the text that this contains in order to amend it and remove the rather aggressive sounding reference to 'abusive'?

I do know the answer to your question. You can find the notification text at: Adminstration > Notifications > Abuse Author Content.
Here you can, by double clicking on the "<>Content: Content type id" token change the copy for the email notification 
Although after explaining this to you, it now makes me think both cases are using the exact same template but only the token input and output differs per notification...
