We're seeing a frequent issue where users will submit several duplicate replies on a Forum Thread. This is most pronounced when replying-to-a-reply.
(I should note all content in our Community is moderated, so nothing goes live without review.)
- User chooses to reply to an existing Forum Reply:
- Clicking 'Reply' will expand the Reply field.
- The user enters their text, and clicks 'Reply'.
- The Reply field then collapses
- At this point there is often a significant delay. In other Forum Reply contexts, such as replying to the OP, the reply field does not collapse, and the 'progress dots' are displayed, but not in this instance.
- A frustrated/confused user might click Reply again, and will discover their text is still preserved in the Reply field, and would be inclined to click Reply again, thinking their submission was not captured the first time.
- This might happen any number of times. I've seen as many as 6 duplicate replies.
- Eventually the Live Alert appears ("Your reply has been moderated..."), but this can take 10-20 seconds to appear, an eternity in internet time.
The 10-20 second delay before any acknowledgement is most problematic, but this is compounded by the lack of 'progress dots', the Reply field immediately vanishing, and preserving the user's entry.
I recognize that our instance is likely somewhat unique with all content being moderated but was curious if anyone else has encountered this and had any ideas or workarounds?
Thanks!
