Group Members role delete permissions, is it by design or a bug?

We want to prevent group Members from deleting any posts (including their own) within the group.  Is it by design that members can still delete their own posts (comments, and etc.) even though the group Members role does not have permission to delete anything?

  • Hi Ryan, there are multiple places where you can configure what kind of permissions a member has. It can be per site role, per group role, per application etc etc. Might be that you still have it enabled somewhere. An idea is to check for the site role what permission you have enabled and within the group filter by "By Permission". (see screenshot below)

Another place where you can configure after how much minutes someone is allowed to edit a post is in the administrator and then at the application tab:

If you set it to 0, members shouldn't be able to edit/delete their posts.

  • Hi Lennert, based on your reply, I can conclude that it is by design that users can always delete there own posts, even if the Delete Posts permission is not enabled for group members. I think the Delete Posts permission is for allowing to delete other people's posts.  However, if a post has comments on it, the user will not be able to delete it.
