Image file sizes increasing after uploading

Just to add a note, we are loading the images with $core_v2_ui.GetResizedImageHtml

Resized images are physically resized and resaved which could may result in a lower compression rating than the original image. For JPGs for example, images are resized with a minimum quality rating of 85 but, if the source file is of higher quality, it will save with the higher quality rating if it can be read from the file.

Is there anyway to change these settings? We are seeing images shrink in resolution but more than double in size.

Stephen Vicino did you find a solution to this?  Are you recommending specific image dimensions for Wikis and/or Articles?  Thanks.

We are asking authors to resize their images to 1200px800px and compressing them. We are no longer using the GetResized functions because it increasing the image sizes.

Are you using a specific tool for the file compression?

No configuration to adjust these settings is currently exposed.
