Ask a question or start a discussion can you choose before you create a post?

We have a forum that has a combination of both discussion topics and questions i.e. we allow both types of post styles in the one forum.

However, a user has to choose within the 'add post' form which type of post they're adding and unfortunately a lot of them miss this completely or don't understand its relevance so every topic is posted as the set default which is Question even though what they've actually posted should be added as a Discussion.

As an Admin we have to edit the topics and recategorize them as a discussion each time (very time consuming activity)

Is there a way that, for forums that contain both types of posts, the CTA can be split out to 'Ask a question' and 'Start a discussion'  as separate types of posts for that forum?

For comparison/inspiration, here's a  screenshot of the staff 'noticeboard' forum on our internal company intranet where you can decide  if you want to ask a question or start a discussion using separate buttons. I also like how we can filter by the discussions and questions too! Slight smile

Is this something we can do or has someone already done something similar and would be happy to share how they did it?
