Forums - Delete Post -- Is this deprecated in 12.1?

Reviewing widgets in upgrade to 12.1.1 and came across Forums - Delete Post showing as entirely custom (not customized Default or something else). I suspect this is a holdover from an upgrade from long ago but can't find the deprecation and don't really want to delete it if it's still being used somewhere and is just categorized incorrectly.

Is this widget deprecated? If so, when was it deprecated?

  • It's not so much that it's deprecated per se, it's just no longer included with the OOTB theme. In this case, I believe that widget went away around 10.x with the shift to threaded replies where deleting a reply will instead prompt the platform-defined management panel. As with other upgrades, if you're using an upgraded theme that still makes use of the widget, the widget should still continue to work.

  • Is there a "where used" function that I can check that I'm no longer using them on any pages/functions of the theme before deleting?

  • There used to be a way to to do this in v11 but cannot see it in v12

admin -> interface -> bulk replace widgets (or search 'bulk' in admin panel)

      has it been removed ?

  •    Thanks for the tip!

In V12.1, that's a part of the Widgets (Manage widgets) for the replace function:

I didn't think about replace since I'm looking to remove, but it does allow me to pick the replacement and stage the changes for review:

Which I then assume that if there are no changes available for previewing, that widget wasn't actually in use

Can you confirm no changes available for preview on a widget replacement always equals no replacements made?
