Group Invite Expiration

Question

Do group invites expire after a certain amount of time? If so, what is that expiration timeframe?

I believed that there was an expiration date, but according to this post there is not. I checked a group on this site that had a collection of invitations from over the past 6-months and all of them had the same expiration date, so that does lead me to believe that it was done manually. I'll check around to confirm.
