When editing the Site Theme's Footer, the "Hover - Previews" widget enables peeking. It's configuration includes options to enable specific content type previews via peeking.

Most stock widgets have peek enabled. The forum thread list does not currently because it had an existing preview capability, however, we've already logged updating it to use peeking instead of its own implementation:

TE-16556: Forum Thread List should use content peek instead of its own preview capability.

    Completed for 12.1

  •  - I don't have that widget available in Widget Studio.  I upgraded from v11 to v12.

The Hover - Previews widget is the same widget as the User - Hover.  I think you would need to revert your User - Hover widget to see the updated widget.

  • Hi Mathew DAmico (mdamico), I have a similar question. Can we enable peekable content on the User - Hover widget? Can you share more information about how this can be configured for each content type?

The Hover - Previews widget is the same widget that was previously called User - Hover.  If after upgrading you still have a widget called User - Hover, you will need to revert that widget to factory default to see the new version which will be called Hover - Previews.

The actual content of the peeks will then be defined by a widget for each different content or application type.  They can be found in Widget Studio by selecting the appropriate item in the Viewing dropdown.  Applications can be found in the Applications subsection, Content in the Content subsection and Users is found under Extensions.  Once you select the item you want to work with there will be a "peek" widget to control what is displayed in the hover.

Below, you can see the User Peek widget found after selecting Users in the Viewing dropdown.

  • Hi Mathew, thanks for the reply. I reverted the User - Hover widget to factory default and now we see the Hover - Previews widget in the Widget Studio.

It doesn't look like the "Peekable Content" is displaying properly for us. When we hover over an @mention to content, the text is overlapping and the background is transparent. Can you take a look at the video below? I'm wondering if this is a bug or if this is something that needs to be configured.

Can you try clearing UI caches at Administration > About > More > Expire User Interface Caches?

Does this same behavior happen when viewing a hover using the out-of-the-box Social theme? If not, you may want to create a themed version of the hover widget and make adjustments based on the styling you've customized already for your site.
