Description

Purpose

Displays a banner of common blog information and links.

Where it works

This widget works in the header of blog pages.

Configuration

Place and configure the widget

  1. Click Pencil Icon >  Manage Blog Theme > Edit this Page
  2. Select and place the Blog - Banner widget on the page
  3. Click on   in the widget menu bar. The configuration dialog appears.

Options Tab

  1. You can change the title of this widget by replacing the text in the Widget Title box.
  2. Post Title - When selected, renders post title on post pages instead of the blog name.
  3. Post Image - When selected, renders post image as the banner background on post pages when available instead of the configured design.
  4. Custom Navigation - Add, edit, delete, rename, or reorder navigation items for the group. Options may include but not limited to the following:

Add a Custom Navigation Item

  • Click Add The Add navigation item dialog appears.
    • Type - Select a type of link from the Links drop-down list. (Note that you can nest navigation items to make drop-down lists of links.)
      • Content Page
        • Page - Enter the page name to select
      • Custom URL
        • URL - Enter the full URL, including http://
        • Open in New Window - When checked, the URL will be opened in a new window/tab when selected.
        • Show to Roles - When specified, only members in these roles will be shown this link. If not set, all members will see the link.
      • Group Article Collections
        • Group - Select the group name, ID, or URL containing the article collection(s) to link to.
      • Group Blog(s)
        • Group Select the group name, ID, or URL containing the blog(s) to link to.
      • Group Calendar(s)
        • Group - Select the group name, ID, or URL containing the calendar(s) to link to.
      • Group Forum(s) 
        • Group - Select the group name, ID, or URL containing the forum(s) to link to.
      • Group Ideation
        • Group - Select the group name, ID, or URL containing the Ideations to link to.
      • Group Leaderboard(s)
        • Group - Select the group name, ID, or URL containing the leaderboard(s) to link to.
      • Group Media Gallery/Galleries 
        • Group Select the group name, ID, or URL containing the media gallery/galleries to link to.
      • Group Members
        • Group  - Select the group name, ID, or URL containing the member's list to link to.
      • Group Mentions 
        • Group - Select the group name, ID, or URL whose mentions to link to.
      • Group Sub-Groups
        • Group - Select the group name, ID, or URL whose sub-groups to link to.
      • Group Tags
        • Group - Select the group name, ID, or URL whose tags to link to.

        • Group - Select the group name, ID, or URL  where one or more wikis reside.

        • Leaderboard -  Select the leaderboard name, ID, or URL to link to.

        • Media Gallery - Select the media gallery name, ID, or URL to link to.

        • Wiki - Select the wiki name, ID, or URL to link to.

          • Contextual - Achievements for the user account being viewed.

        • Contextual - Question by the user account being viewed.
        • Accessing - Questions for the logged-in user.
    • Label The label for this item on the menu when rendered.
  • Click Save to exit the Add navigation item dialog.
  • If you wish to add more navigation items, add each one individually and save. You can drag and drop items in the Custom Navigation Items field to make a menu item a sub- or same-level option
  • When complete continue to step 8.

Edit a Custom Navigation Item

  • Click Edit. The Edit navigation item dialog appears.
  • See above for options
  • Make any desired changes to this item
  • When complete continue to step 8.

Delete a Custom Navigation Item

  • In the Configure Navigation dialog, select the Custom Navigation Item you want to remove.
  • Click Delete.
  • Click OK in the confirmation dialog.
  1. Click Save to exit the Edit navigation item dialog.
  2. Click Publish when complete.

      • Cover Photo - Customize your blog's banner with a cover photo or color palette.
        • Upload File
      • Cover Photo Layout - Select the way in which the cover photo and banner are positioned.
        • Dynamic
          • Dynamic banner height proportions - The banner will resize in proportion to the width of the browser to keep the cover photo fully visible at all browser sizes. 
            • Using specific dimensions

          • Cover Photo Alignment - When the cover photo exceeds its boundaries, it can be aligned.

  2. Click Save to exit the configuration dialog.
  3. Click Publish when complete.
