Activity Message List : Configuration

Description

Purpose

Displays a list of activity messages from the site.

Limitations

Must be used in conjunction with the Activity Story Stream widget.

Where it works

The site-scoped version of this widget works on just about any page on the site. The group-scoped version works on group and group application pages. The user-scoped version works on user profile pages.

Configuration

Place and configure the widget

1. Click Pencil Icon >  Manage [Site/Group] Theme > Edit this Page
2. Select and place the Forums - Links widget on the page
3. Click on  in the widget menu bar. The configuration dialog appears.
4. You can change the title of this widget by replacing the text in the Widget Title box.
5. Collapsed - When not being accessed, the widget collapses and you access its options by clicking More.
6. Number of Items to Display - Define the number of results to be presented. Default = 30
7. Activity List Mode - Determines the default view of the Activity List and the set of filters to display:
   • Dashboard(all site activity) - Displays activity by all users in all groups across the site that the logged-in user has permission to view. For example, he/she might not be able to see a private unlisted group if not a member.
   • Group (activity in a group and optionally subgroups)- Displays activity of the group where it's located and, if selected, the activity of its subgroups.
     • The "Include subgroup activity" check box appears when you select this activity stream mode.
   • User Profile (activity for a specific user) - Displays activity for a single user. This mode works only on the user's profile page and displays their activity.
8. Display user avatars next to activity and status messages - Check to enable.
9. Click Save and continue to step 12 - or
10. Click Configure Tabs - Opens a new dialog to select, organize, and enable the tabs that are available for each selected Activity List Mode. 
    • All - List Mode = Dashboard
    • All Activity -  List Modes = Group / User
    • Following - List Mode = Group
    • Groups - List Mode = Dashboard
    • Messages - List Modes = Dashboard / Group
    • Messages & Comments - List Modes = Group / User
    • My Activity - List Modes = Dashboard / Group
    • People - List Mode = Dashboard
    • People & Groups - List Mode = Dashboard
11. Click Save to exit the configuration dialog.
12. Click Publish when complete.
