Article Navigation List : Configuration

Description

Purpose

Renders custom navigation links with the option to include images and descriptions.

Limitations

This widget requires search to be installed in order to work. 

Where it works

This widget can be used on just about any page in the site.

Configuration

Place and configure the widget

  1. Click Pencil Icon >  Manage [Site/Group] Theme > Edit this Page
  2. Select and place the Navigation List widget on the page
  3. Click on   in the widget menu bar. The configuration dialog appears.
  4. You can change the title of this widget by replacing the text in the Widget Title box.

Adding Custom Navigation Items

  1. Links - Customized links can be defined within this field.
    • Add - When clicked, an item dialog box appears.
    • Type - Select a type of link from the Links drop-down list. (Note that you can nest navigation items to make drop-down lists of links.)
      • Content Page
        • Page - Enter the page name to select
      • Custom URL
        • URL - Enter the full URL, including http://
        • Open in New Window - When checked, the URL will be opened in a new window/tab when selected.
        • Show to Roles - When specified, only members in these roles will be shown this link. If not set, all members will see the link.
      • Group Article Collections
        • Group - Select the group name, ID, or URL containing the article collection(s) to link to.
      • Group Blog(s)
        • Group - Select the group name, ID, or URL containing the blog(s) to link to.
      • Group Calendar(s)
        • Group - Select the group name, ID, or URL containing the calendar(s) to link to.
      • Group Forum(s) 
        • Group - Select the group name, ID, or URL containing the forum(s) to link to.
      • Group Ideation
        • Group - Select the group name, ID, or URL containing the Ideations to link to.
      • Group Leaderboard(s)
        • Group - Select the group name, ID, or URL containing the leaderboard(s) to link to.
      • Group Media Gallery/Galleries 
        • GroupSelect the group name, ID, or URL containing the media gallery/galleries to link to.
      • Group Members
        • Group  - Select the group name, ID, or URL containing the member's list to link to.
      • Group Mentions 
        • Group - Select the group name, ID, or URL whose mentions to link to.
      • Group Sub-Groups
        • Group - Select the group name, ID, or URL whose sub-groups to link to.
      • Group Tags
        • Group - Select the group name, ID, or URL whose tags to link to.
      • Group Wiki(s)
        • Group - Select the group name, ID, or URL  where one or more wikis reside.
      • Single Article
        • Article - Select the article name, ID, or URL to link to.
      • Single Article Category
        • Article Collection - Select the article collection name, ID, or URL to link to.
        • CategorySelect the category to link to.
      • Single Article Collection 
        • Article Collection - Select the article collection name, ID, or URL to link to.
      • Single Blog
        • Blog Select the blog to link to.
      • Single Calendar
        • Calendar - Select the calendar name, ID, or URL to link to.
      • Single Forum
        • Forum -  Select the forum name, ID, or URL to link to.
      • Single Group
        • Group -  Select the group name, ID, or URL to link to.
      • Single Ideation
        • Ideation-  Select the ideation name, ID, or URL to link to.
      • Single Leaderboard
        • Leaderboard -  Select the leaderboard name, ID, or URL to link to.
      • Single Media Gallery
        • Media Gallery - Select the media gallery name, ID, or URL to link to.
      • Single Wiki
        • Wiki - Select the wiki name, ID, or URL to link to.
      • User Achievements
        • User
          • Contextual - Achievements for the user account being viewed.
          • Accessing - Achievements for the logged-in user.
      • User Activity
        • User
          • Contextual - Activity for the user account being viewed.
          • Accessing - Activity for the logged-in user.
      • User Blog Posts
        • User
          • Contextual Blog Posts by the user account being viewed.
          • Accessing - Blog Posts for the logged-in user.
      • User Bookmarks
        • User
          • Contextual - Bookmarks of the user account being viewed.
          • Accessing - Bookmarks for the logged-in user.
      • User Friends
        • User
          • Contextual - Friends of the user account being viewed.
          • Accessing - Friends for the logged-in user.
      • User Groups
        • User
          • Contextual - Groups joind by the user account being viewed.
          • Accessing - Groups joined by the logged-in user.
      • User Likes

      • User List - Provides a List of users.
      • User mentions 
        • Contextual - Mentions by the user account being viewed.
        • Accessing - Mentions for the logged-in user.
      • User Profile
        • Contextual - Profile of the user account being viewed.
        • Accessing - Profile for the logged-in user.
      • User Questions 
        • Contextual - Question by the user account being viewed.
        • Accessing - Questions for the logged-in user.
    • LabelThe label for this item on the menu when rendered.
    • Description - The description of this item which will appear below the Label when rendered.
    • Icon - Upload an icon that can be used as a visual aid for this link.
  2. Click Save to exit the Add navigation item dialog.
  3. If you wish to add more navigation items, add each one individually and save. You can also drag and drop items within the Links field to make a menu item a sub- or same-level option
  4. Layout - Choose from the following options:
    • Single Row - Displays navigation items in a horizontal format on one line.
    • Wrap multiple row - Displays navigation items in a horizontal format using multiple lines.
      • Items per row - Defines how many links to include in each row. Note the link boxes will be presented right justified.
  5. Click Save to exit the Navigation dialog.
  6. Click Publish when complete.

Edit a Custom Navigation Item

  1. Click on   in the Navigation widget menu bar. The configuration dialog appears.
  2. In the Configure Navigation dialog, select the Link item you want to edit.
  3. Click Edit. The Edit navigation item dialog appears.
  4. Make any desired changes to this item
  5. Click Save to exit the Edit navigation item dialog.
  6. Click Save to exit the Configure Navigation dialog.
  7. Click Publish when complete.

Delete a Custom Navigation Item

  1. Click on   in the widget menu bar. The configuration dialog appears.
  2. In the Configure Navigation dialog, select the Link item you want to remove.
  3. Click Delete.
  4. Click OK in the confirmation dialog.
  5. Click Save in the Configure Navigation dialog.
  6. Click Publish when complete.
