When some posts are deleted in our community (11.1.5) some will show [deleted] and some will show nothing and it is removed completely. I am curious what triggers the different reactions, and is this expected behavior?

If the content being deleted has child content, like a reply to a thread reply, it will say deleted(the body content is replaced) to preserve the context tree. Otherwise its deleted permanently.
Mhh, a hidden feature... I understand in some cases it would be useful to retain the thread but not the post. Is there a selection box during delete action that asks to delete the replies as well or how does that work after the delete of the post?
Yes, when deleting a forum reply or comment with children, it will ask whether to delete its children as well.
Forgive me for reviving such an old thread, but do we know if users are notified when their post or thread is deleted? If so, is this something the user would need to manually turn on?
