Bulk upload images into Gallery

Hi

Is there a way to bulk upload images into a gallery? I see you can drag multiple files into a new Upload, but I guess you still have to pick another file to upload under File or Website. Is this the only way to bulk upload, or is there another?

Thanks

  • Hey Oli, are you wanting to upload to a single file page or you just want to upload many images into a gallery and they are their own files? Screenshots for what I mean:

    Uploading to a single file:

Uploading files to gallery as individual files:

If single file, yes you have to have a main file, then you can drag/drop into the editor for additional images.

However, if you want them as their own files to download, you just drag them to the media gallery page itself. So on the second screenshot where im seeing all files, you drag/drop any new files and they will be uploaded as individual files.

Hope I got that right or close, but let me know if something else and we'll dig in. Thanks!

  • So I would like to bulk upload an album of images, but I think I understand that to keep the images together, I would have to upload a single file and add all the images in the description field by dragging them in. That would keep the images together. So I think that is what your first screenshot shows.

For the second screenshot, I can't see where I would drag a bunch of new files to be uploaded as individual files. I tried it and nothing happened. Here is my media gallery application page, is there where I need to click and drag?

There is a widget called Media Gallery - Drag Drop. Is that currently on the page?  If you add that to the page, it should enable drag and drop upload of files.

  • I don't see widget by that name in the list available:

Is this not available in v11.1?

It should be available in 11.1.  By default, I think only administrators can add it to page.   So either:

    • an administrator can add it to the page for you
    • an administrator can go to Widget Availability panel under Interface in adminstration and add it to the Allowed Widgets for Groups.  Then you should be able to add it to any Media Gallery you would like.
  • Yes I tested on an OOTB instance of v11.1. Here is a video of dragging/dropping onto the gallery application page:
