Search results query modification

Hi, 
 
 We like to change the Search results page to show results both fro blog and forum and also from predefined groups. Is there any way to achieve it. 
 I Looked towards FieldFilters but i didn't find option to send blog and forum as category or is there any other way to achieve it.

Both the site banner search and search page have options to filter by application type by selecting a button or utilizing the the drop down. You can inspect the widgets to see how selecting these items changes the query and apply that logic in your customization.
