Is there a way to track .mp4 plays from the media gallery

In version 11.x, direct file accesses are not tracked. This was changed in version 12.0 and now even direct file downloads related to media gallery files from supporting file storage providers (all out of the box providers are supported) are tracked as downloads on the media gallery file.

This change is largely internal though the file storage provider must implement the  IEventEnabledCentralizedFileStorageProvider Provider Type plugin type. The out of the box file storage providers all implement this type to support the media gallery functionality.
