Standardising Banners (on Blog / Forum / Event posts)

Hello again! One other question, we're having a lot of difficulty posting banners, as they are all coming out at different sizes in the email alerts and on the posts themselves, regardless of what we put in the measurements when posting. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, how did you solve it please?! Thank you!!

Dynamic vs Fixed would be a setting you can change, found by configuring the widget in Edit mode.

Are these images you are posting within individual posts? That's different from the site/group/blog banners that you can configure to show when browsing that area of the site. Those banners would not be included in emails. Can you share screenshots of what you are seeing?

  • Yes sure... so this banner came up HUGE on the email alert:

but was fine on the forum post:

My colleague is using the same dimensions on the settings each time he posts and sometimes they come up huge, other times tiny...

When I checked with the web dev, they said it depends on the original file size, but surely there must be something we can do to simplify this as all the members who want to post might not know how to change the file size to a standardised measurement (seeing as we can't even do it yet either!)

How are they including that image in the post? Is it directly in the body, or via "Attach File", or via "Post Image"?

Your site looks to have a fair bit of theme customization, does that also include customization of email templates? These images do not show up by default in blog post emails.

It's very possible the original upload size is affecting the size in the email, depending on if you are displaying the raw file and not a resized version. Specifying the dimensions when uploading will create a resized version of the image for display in the blog post, but still store the file at original size for reference.

  • Ah yes, they've been added into the body of the text via 'insert image', as we don't have a thumbnail option for the forum - but I'm not sure if the email template has been customised to be honest.

Ok, so maybe we need to stick with posting events on our blog section, as this seems to standardise them better.
