We sometimes need to see the history of edits to a blog article or a wiki article to revert back to the original or to see who made edits. is there a way to do this?

Which version of Community are you using?
With Wiki Pages (and Articles in v12), this is easy to do. When viewing a wiki page, select More > History. When editing an Article, the History tab is shown along the top.
For Blog Posts, there is not version information like this. If you are using v12, you can view the Auditing log to see edits that were made to the Blog Post, including text changes.
