We're looking to have a link on our support pages which allows users to send a private message to our Community Manager. Is there a way of taking them to the 'Conversations' page (or possibly another route I don't know of, like popping up a modal dialog) & pre-populating the recipient field with a specified user?

If you want to send a PM directly to another user, you can use a link like this: https://community.telligent.com/user/conversations#New=True&UserId=131877 Right now that will take you to the PM area and open a conversation with Jon Allen.
To get this URL, go to your community managers profile and click "Connect" (top right if it hasn't been moved), then click Send a private message.
Then you will see the URL:
