Missing Send / Reply buttons in rich text editor

Hi all,

We are in the process of upgrading and have been performing UAT on our QA environment for Telligent Community v11.1.

We have found an occasional issue with the send and reply buttons on discussions and questions. I say occasional issue because right now the buttons are visible, but we have seen it disappear for some users and not others, then reappear at different times or days. It seems we can't reliably reproduce the problem, but it is core functionality so we can't close off our testing without being certain the issue is resolved.

The send / reply buttons are part of the TinyMCE rich text editor and can be seen in the screen shots below, the first one is from my computer:

The second screen shot shows the same page loaded on my colleagues machine in the same browser (Chrome), at roughly the same time. Note the yellow send button doesn't appear.

Today, with no further changes made by us to the theme or widgets, the button is appearing for everyone who visits the pages affected. We don't understand what is happening. Has anyone else seen this issue before, or have any suggestions for us?

Are you seeing this only in conversations, or other locations using TinyMCE as well? Is this happening to specific users, or all users at random?

The two versions of TinyMCE appear different - the first is the slimmed down inline editor and the second is the full editor. If you see the version without the button again, try clearing local cache. Were plugins changed/saved/reloaded at all since the last time you noticed this?

  • I have a similar issue on Wikis:

    and then refreshing the page:

I haven't investigated too much yet, but I assumed it had something to do with our custom CSS. It seems to be happening to all users at random, but we only have a select few users who can edit wikis, so the sample set is small. Personally, I haven't seen it on any other applications. I'm wondering if we're running into the same issue? Unfortunately, I don't have any other suggestions yet, but nice to know I may not be the only one.

  • These would seem to be unrelated, except potentially unless there's something underlying with a stale cache, and then I'd have the same question as Steven regarding local cache.
