Member "Page Not Found" Error

I have a member who receives "page not found" when trying to access a group she does have permission to view. Even stranger, when I look at this member's profile, the group is listed as one of her Communities, and yet when she clicks to enter, she receives the error message. We already tried signing out and in again, clearing cookies, using a different browser. I also removed her from the group and added her back in, and still she is unable to access this group. Has anyone experienced this before and know how to assist? Thank you so much.

  • A couple of ideas:

    • Have you tried impersonating her and trying it on your end?
    • Was the permission/access granted recently, or did she used to have access and this suddenly changed?
    • Under the Group's admin options, under Permissions > Members (since you said she's a member), is Read Group checked? 
    • You could try (temporarily) making her a manager or making other permission changes to see if that affects anything (and then revoke when done testing)

    I've had intermittent issues where users cannot access a restricted group, but it often "just seemed to work" after doing the steps you already tried a few times -- I haven't been able to track down a cause yet, unfortunately.

    Thank you so much for offering these great suggestions! Unfortunately, our system is set-up where I can not impersonate any members. I did check the permissions and "Read Group" is enabled. I will try your suggestion of making her a manager temporarily, to see if that allows her to enter. Thanks again for all your help and I will circle back when I have updates!

    My member was finally able to access the site. I unfortunately feel just as you described--not totally sure what ultimately did the trick to provide her access. We moved through many troubleshooting steps, including me once again removing her permission and it adding back on. I'm relieved it did work and at least, and I have many troubleshooting steps in my back pocket should this happen again. Thanks so much for your assistance. Hope you have a great week!
