Is there a way to create Forum selection control In-Process API

Question

Hi, 
 
 We wanted to create a forum select control in the plugin, we are able to make this control in the widgets by setting the following fields. 
 dataType="custom" 
 controlType="Telligent.Evolution.Discussions.Controls.ForumSelectionControl" 
 
 I tried the same in the plugin but no control is showing in the plugin configuration. 
 Can you please suggest us how we can get this.

In version 11, specifying controlType is obsolete (and the appropriate way to set it in plugins is to set the ControlType parameter of type Type). In version 11.x, the type can be loaded from the Telligent.Evolution.Forums.dll via typeof(Telligent.Evolution.Discussions.Controls.ForumSelectionControl). This will work in version 11, but will no longer work in version 12. 
 The current way to specify a custom UI implementation is to use the template attribute/property on configuration properties. See the following documentation:

 Property Templates in version 11.x -- Available built-in templates in version 11.x (note that there was not a replacement for the forum selection control in version 11.x) 
 Property Templates in version 12.x -- Note that version 12.x added far more property templates. You'd want to use the core_v2_forumLookup template (if you were running in version 12).
