What is the expected behavior for comments when a post is moved to a group where the author does not have any view permissions?

I wasn't sure if this was the expected behavior, so I figured I would post here before creating a support ticket.  Here is the scenario:

  • User Joe Example makes a post in the Product A group.
  • A moderator decides this post shouldn't be allowed so they move it to a group named Restricted that only moderators have access to.  The Restricted group is used as an archive for removed posts instead of deleting posts.  This is used instead of report abuse because the content should not go through an appeal process nor be subject to the expunge timer for auto-deletion.
  • After the content is relocated in the Restricted group, the moderator adds a comment/reply to the post to state why it was moved for a historical record.
  • When the moderator replies to the post, Joe Example gets an email notification with the comment the moderator added, but Joe's account is not a member of any role that has access to this Restricted group.  The Everyone and Registered Users roles do not have read or write access to the Restricted group.  Joe is not a member, owner, or manager of the group either.

So my question is, should Joe still receive a notification about the reply?  When he clicks the link in the email about the reply, he cannot access the group or the content as expected.  On our last community platform (Jive), moving the content to a group the user could not access would also stop notifications on it.  I wasn't sure what the expected operation is for this on Verint Community.  Any input would be appreciated.

  • What complete version are what talking about?

    We are on version 11.1.3.12348.

Does Joe get notified that his post is being moved to this Restricted group?  I mean before the moderator adds a comment/reply.

I don't recall getting an automatic email notification from Verint when it was moved.  In practice, we may manually reach out to the user to explain the reason it was moved, but it depends on the situation.  For example, we would not message the user if the post was clearly SPAM.  We would want to save the post to the Restricted group to help us identify SPAM patterns and trends.  Having past context like that came in handy for me in the past.
