What's the bare minimum that can be displayed on a user profile page?

This is somewhat of a hypothetical question from a new-to-Verint user, but I'm in discussions with our legal department about privacy re: our Community, and this question came up:

I understand that I can adjust the fields that will display on a user's profile page within the Community. My question is: how bare bones can I make it? If, say, I only wanted a user profile page to display username and that's it, nothing more, could I?

We will require a user to provide first name, last name, and country upon sign up. But does that mean that those fields MUST be displayed on the user's profile page to other members? Or can we just collect that information and not have it display (to any non-admins)?

I'm talking to Social Edge about their Profile Insights widget to learn what this extension might do to alleviate privacy concerns. But I ask the above question, too, because it would help me to understand what my baseline is with Verint sans Social Edge.
