media gallery file list widget will not pull from specific media galleries

I have a couple media galleries set up with files uploaded. When I place the Media gallery - File list widget in my layout it will show all the files when left at the default setting. however when I select a specific media gallery to pull from it shows no files. Am I missing a step?

I cannot reproduce this in later versions. Have you customized it in any way? You are also on an old version and are behind on maintenance. If you continue to have issues I would open a support ticket
