Blog comments generate two notifications

Hi Richard Dotson! I'll take a crack at this...

Two spots I would check:

1) The first spot is when writing the blog post, there is an option in the... "options" tab at the top of the editor. The option to look for is "Notify me when someone comments on this post" so if that is checked, they will be notified, as the blog author, that a new comment is added.

2) The second spot is in their Notifications settings to see what is checked there. Click on user avatar > click settings > click notifications tab > look at the "Activity from subscriptions" section assuming they subscribe to the blog, also look at "Activity related to content you write" section.

For me - it would helpful to know what all is checked in those 3 areas above (notify me when someone comments, as well as what is checked in the 2 sections in the notifications settings) so that I can review and/or do some testing. Thanks!

Hi Grant. I think the mystery is somewhat solved. The notification is certainly turned on in his blog. I'm not seeing it turned on in other posts in other blogs, but it looks like all his posts have it turned on. Before I go back and ask this author if he turned these on, is it possible for the option to be on by default in the blog, or is it always an opt in per each post? 

I'm seeing this checked on by default in my various tests. I believe it would be opt-out per each post based on what I'm seeing but I will ask internally to confirm!

Hi Grant. We tested again today. When you turn off the notification option it doesn't send anything. What we'd like to have is just the single message that comes from the comment and not the alert that a comment has been made. Do you think this is should be a ticket? What's odd is I'm seeing this feature turned on in some blogs, but not in others.
