Telligent Community Server ships with six group application types:

Blog | Short name for weblog. Locations where one or more authors can write commentary on a topic or area of expertise. Readers of the content can typically comment on it. | Personal commentary, description of newsworthy or interesting events. |
Calendar | Adding, listing, registering, and confirming community events. | Referencing or scheduling community events. |
Challenge | Means of creating, voting on, and triaging ideas and solutions. | Crowd-sourcing ideas or solutions to a problem. |
Forum | Discussion and/or question and answer areas with thread starters and replies. Answers to questions can be suggested or verified. | Discussions or Q&A among group members; bug reporting. |
Media gallery | Collections of files available for download. Viewers of the content can typically comment on it. | Image gallery, video demos, presentations, reporting spreadsheets. |
Wiki | Editable pages of content. Revision history is captured and comparisons can be made between revisions. Content can often be commented upon. | Help documentation, specifications, and other less temporal or non-temporal content. |
These applications can only exist within a group. We recommend that you DO NOT create applications under the Site Root group to ensure that community members can navigate easily to all applications and the content within those application include the correct permissions.
