Mirrored Feeds thumbnail featured image

Mirrored blogs uses the Mirrored Feed Updater job which is internal to the Blogs project and does not include any extensibility points or events to handle. Does the enclosure tag get saved in the full text (aka source) of the mirrored article? You might be able to use the Blog Post add event to handle adjusting the body text with the enclosure tag.

This all assumes you aren't in control of the remote feed in order to add the image url in a way that would be interpreted as an image.

Hi Steven Heffner thanks for your response. We could potentially update the remote feed, what format is it looking for the image for to bring in?

I actually don't believe this is possible at all, once the blog post is created or being created you no longer have access to any feed elements.

If you can update the remote feed, I would include the images in the body of the feed item.

But that still is not going to set the featured item or post image, but if it was in the body somehow you could write code to parse it out

So potentially we could try to have our Blog lists that show the blog posts pull the thumbnail from the body instead of a featured image?

Thats only if you forgo an enclosure tag and somehow add the image into the body as an imag tage...but that has side effects as you are now constantly putting an img tag into the body of posts.

While there are some potential hacks to make this work if you are willing to change the generation of the RSS feed itself...they are even hacky for my tastes... and believe me that says something

Ok thanks not sure I want to get too into that! Most blog posts already have the image that would be used as the featured image in the body as the first image so potentially could try and pull that out if there isn't a featured image manually added to the blog post.
