Good Design for Online Communities

Having designed for some first class online communities, James Good will provide a broad overview of the principles of design – showing examples of good and bad design and how design can be applied to improve the user experience and help your online community thrive. Step-by-step you’ll see some simple techniques being demonstrated – many of which should be quick and easy to implement on your own online community.

This talk will be ideal for anyone responsible for the commissioning, implementation or day-to-day management of an online community – including social media managers, community managers, IT managers, support managers, marketing managers and anyone working amongst their teams. The talk will be relevant for Telligent communities, but topics and design principles covered will be applicable to any community or intranet platform.

And, to make for a lively and engaging event, there’ll be an element of experiential learning throughout, as James illustrates how good design can be used to improve the success of various community concepts and engagement strategies.
