The following procedure is a guideline for performing a full theme and widget backup on your site. (Note that your exact steps or site might differ from this example.)
Telligent Community Server 9.0 will maintain the user experience (including pages, widgets, styling) of your old site and enable you to define how the user experience should be updated post-upgrade.
To enable post-upgrade decisions and ensure a smooth upgrade to 9.0, be sure to back up your site's customizations using the following upgrade procedure prior to upgrading to 9.0.
- Navigate to the site home page (or profile page).
- Mouse over Management.
- Navigate to Control Panel > System Administration > Site Administration > Widget Studio > Manage Widgets.
- Change the filter at the top of the widget list to read "Viewing default (user edited) widgets with Any theme version."
- If no widgets are listed, go to the next step; otherwise, select all widgets using the check box next to the filter, click the "Export Selection" button on the right sidebar, and save the resulting file for backup as "EditedWidgetsBackup.xml."
- Change the filter at the top of the widget list to read "Viewing user installed widgets with Any theme version."
- If no widgets are listed, go to the next step; otherwise, select all widgets using the check box next to the filter, click the "Export Selection" button on the right sidebar, and save the resulting file for backup as "CustomWidgetsBackup.xml."
- Change the filter at the top of the widget list to read "Viewing all widgets with any theme version."
- If no widgets are listed, go to the next step; otherwise, select all widgets using the check box next to the filter, click the "Export Selection" button on the right sidebar, and save the resulting file for backup as "AllWidgetsBackup.xml."
- In the front UI, navigate to the profile page.
- Mouse over Management.
- Manage site theme.
- Click Export theme. The Export theme panel appears.
- Click Entire theme configuration. Save the resulting file as "SiteThemeConfigurationBackup.xml."
- Mouse over Management.
- Navigate to Control Panel > Administration > Site Administration > Site Content > Manage Themes.
- For each theme type (site, group and blog) and theme (Social and ... ), export the theme by clicking the "Export" button and save the resulting files within a folder named "FullThemeBackups/."
