How members receive notifications
Members can receive notifications in the Notification Queue, email, or by Live Alerts. Notifications are controlled by administratively applied plugins.
Receiving notifications in the Notification Queue
The Notification Queue is one of the options on the site navigation bar. When its icon is clicked, it displays a pull-down list of recent notifications. Each notification in the queue links to the actor (person who took action) and the content or status message he/she is liking/mentioning/responding to.
The queue only contains notification types that the user specifically checks off in his/her Settings > Notifications tab. For example, if you unchecked the "Liked my content" option, you wouldn't receive any messages in the Notification Queue about members liking your content.
Receiving email notifications
Email Notifications are system-generated emails that notify the user about activity from subscriptions, their network, or content they have authored.
Receiving notifications in Live Alerts
Live Alerts are temporary slide-out messages displayed in the browser. By default, all members receive them when activity occurs for their network or content. However, each member can customize the alerts they receive on their Settings > Notification tab.
Live Alerts are only displayed for notification types that the user specifically checks off in his/her Settings > Notifications tab. For example, if you unchecked the "Liked my content" option, you wouldn't receive any Live Alerts about members liking your content.
