SOLR 4.5.1 |
*32-bit Solr technically can be used for a smaller-sized community, assuming the size of the search index is less than 2 GB. That being said, there are two reasons for the 64-bit recommendation: (1) When you start dealing with a medium to large community, the search index will grow. If the index gets too large, it will push the limits of the maximum memory size for an application on a 32-bit system. Windows 2008 R2 does not have a 32-bit version.
**For the caching server requirement, both the server and clients need to be on the same version.
