How you join a group depends upon how the group is configured.
Joinless [All content is public. No membership required.]
- Groups that are configured as "Joinless" do not support membership at all.
- Membership is not required to participate in these groups.
Public (Open Membership) [All content is public. Membership is required to contribute.]
- Links may be provided that promote joining the group.
- A banner may appear towards the bottom of the web browser window stating the group "requires membership for participation - click to join."
- Once you've clicked one of these links your group membership is complete
Public (Closed Membership) [All content is public. Membership approval required to contribute.]
- Links may be provided that promote joining the group.
- A banner may appear towards the bottom of the web browser window stating the group "requires membership for participation - click to join."
- When you request membership you can include a message with the request that will be shared with the group owners. You will then need to wait for the group owners to review your request and either accept or reject it. You will receive a notification when tthat review is complete.
Private (Listed) [Content is private. Group name and description are public. Membership approval required to contribute.]
- For "Private Listed" groups, the group membership request form is presented immediately when visiting the group.
- When you request membership you can include a message with the request that will be shared with the group owners. You will then need to wait for the group owners to review your request and either accept or reject it. You will receive a notification when tthat review is complete.
Private (Unlisted) [Content is private. Group is hidden to non-members. Membership approval required to contribute.]
- "Private Unlisted" groups do not support requesting membership at all.
- Members must be added or invited by the group owner or an administrator to even see the group and its content.
