Articles - Article List : Configuration

Description

Purpose

Displays a list of Articles.

Limitations

When Select collection to pull article from is left as the default = Current Article Collection, the option for Select category to pull article from will be limited to the Default = Current Category. 

When the actual Article Collection name is defined for Select collection to pull article from the Select category to pull article from will display all available categories from that Article Collection.

This widget works on just about any page on the site.

Configuration

Place and configure the widget

1. Click Pencil Icon >  Manage Article Collection Theme  > Edit this Page
2. Select and place the Articles - Article List widget on the page.
3. Click on  in the widget menu bar. The configuration dialog appears.
4. You can change the title of this widget by replacing the text in the Widget Title box.
5. Select collection to pull article from - Define the desired Article Collection. Default = Current Article Collection
6. Select category to pull article from - Define the desired Category. Default = Current Category
7. Include articles - Select one or more from the following
   • All = Default 
   • FAQ
   • Alert
   • Article
8. Sort posts by - Select one from the drop down.
   • Sort Order
   • Publish Date
   • Last Updated
   • Most Helpful
   • Title
   • Custom Sort
     • Define Custom Sort - Include or exclude articles and define the order of display. A category must be selected before this sort will display articles. This sort is limited to the first 100 articles for the selected collection and article types. (If this option is selected continue to step 11.)
9. Sort order - Select from the following:
   
   • Ascending
   • Decending 
10. Tag to filter articles by - Enter the desired Tag.
11. View Type - Select from the following: ('Auto detect' displays full view in large columns and simple view in sidebar columns. 'Full' and 'Simple' force the view type regardless of location.)
    • Auto detect
    • Full
    • Simple = Default
12. Excerpt size - Enter the maximum number of characters to display for article excerpts. Default = 200
13. Number of articles to display - Define the number of articles to be displayed on a page. Default = 100
14. Enable paging - When checked paging will be available once the number of articles to display is exceeded.
15. Hide when no articles are found - When checked, this widget will only be visible when one or more articles meet the defined requirements.
16. Show type icon - When checked type icon will be displayed next to each article listed.
17. Click Save to exit the configuration dialog.
18. Click Publish when complete.
