User - Shared RSS Feed : Configuration

Description

Purpose

Displays a list of items in various RSS feeds on a user's Settings page. This widget differs from the RSS Feed widget in that:

• Its format is predetermined - it is comparable to the RSS Feed widget's "Not Paged/Not Filtered" view, displaying no excerpts.
• It displays multiple feeds. The RSS Feed widget is used for only one feed.

By default, this widget is available to users to load onto their dashboard.

Limitation

This widget only displays feeds if they have been configured by the user on their profile page.

Where it works

This widget is used on the user profile page.

Configuration

Place and configure the widget

1. Click Pencil Icon >  Manage [Site/Group] Theme > Edit this Page
2. Select and place the User - Shared RSS Feed widget on the page
3. Click on  in the widget menu bar. The configuration dialog appears.
4. You can change the title of this widget by replacing the text in the Widget Title box.
5. Number of items per RSS feed to display - Enter the number of items you want displayed. Default = 5
6. Click Save to exit the configuration dialog.
7. Click Publish when complete.

Configure the feeds from the profile page

1. Navigate to the user's Profile page.
2. Click Profile.
3. Click Edit Profile and the profile editing page appears.
4. In the Shared RSS Feed URLs field, enter one RSS feed URL per line.
5. Click Save Profile.
6. Items from the feed(s) will be displayed.
