Revert provides a way to revert portions of a theme. It isn't necessary to revert all portions of the same version when you do so.
This procedure is useful when site pages have been customized too much, and you decide to start over - or when you need to roll back customizations on the home page. You can revert default pages, content pages, headers/footers, and widgets to the configured defaults (selected in Edit Page) or factory defaults.
- Navigate to the site home page (or a profile page).
- Click Management.
- Navigate to Control Panel > System administration > Site administration > Site content > Manage theme.
- Click Revert at the bottom of the page. The Revert theme options dialog window appear.
- In the first line of the dialog window ("Revert ___ page layouts in this theme to ___..."), select core in the first drop-down list. Select configured defaults in the second drop-down list of this line. As a result the line should read, "Revert core page layouts in this theme to configured defaults for the following pages." This command will revert the pages shipped out of the box with themes, but not content pages. Ensure that all check boxes for this item are checked.
Here are the other options for the page layout defaults:- [Revert] Core and content - Restores the out of the box pages and content pages to the default you choose.
- [page layouts in this theme to] Configured defaults - Restores whatever pages you select to the default layout saved in Edit Page mode.
- [page layouts in this theme to] Factory defaults - Restores whatever pages you select to the out of the box layout.
- In the second line of the dialog window ("Revert ___ in this theme to___..."), leaving the default settings for the line (revert headers and footers to configured defaults) will also revert the headers and footers. If you don't wish to revert headers and footers, uncheck the sentence checkbox or choose which of the two (that is, headers or footers) you do want to revert.
- If it is present, in the third line of the dialog window ("Revert configured theme files"), revert refers to reverting theme files such as JS, CSS, and supporting files to factory defaults. So if you chose reverting to configured defaults in lines 1 and 2 of the dialog box, you would uncheck this line.
- Click Revert.
