I asked one of our super users in the last 30 days if he had any feedback and the one thing he said is how he doesn't receive any notifications anymore. I noticed that OOTB even if the members are auto-added as members to groups, there are no notifications automatically turned on. When I think about my user experience, I like that I've been able to choose which groups to follow and get notifications from, but in our case we auto-add our members to a select number of groups so I definitely want them to have their notifications turned ON first then dial it down from there.
How do I make this happen? In the meantime... I think I have to send an email out to our roles to adjust their settings to get the emails they want, but as a new user comes in I need them to update their settings asap so I need this.
Has anyone come across the same issue? Have you fixed it with a script? Workaround?
*disclaimer: this really is more of a discussion, but I'll verify some answers that might address this!
We have created custom plugins that will subscribe new users to configured blogs, forums and the digest- configurable per group
I'm interested in learning more!
I'm guessing that this is going to be something that we would like to have, as well. Thanks for posting this, Emily!
The other use case is presenting a flow not unlike one Wilfried has somewhere around here where you present a list of groups (in our case ones they are already members of) and ask them to subscribe themselves. Pro: They are actively consenting to receive the information ie they know to expect them, Con: Asking them to do more can lead to less notifications by not following the CTAs
This could be accomplished with a custom widget... you wouldn’t need a plug-in for this functionality
Is there is a significant error difference between the two options? Is there an example of this custom widget for reference?
One is done in widget studio in the browser... the other is C# code and deployed as a dll
The widget would require the user to click on it, the plug-in could be triggered automatically through the rules engine or some other mechanism
As a non-developer, is there a way I can do this myself or you or someone else? I think my real question is who can help me implement either one of these solutions?I think my p1 is the auto-subscribe and my p2 is the click to subscribe.
